We’re Victoria & Craig! In 2021, we decided that we needed to make life a little more exciting, so we bought a used fifth wheel and completely renovated it. Then, we sold our house in Tallahassee, Florida and hit the road full time in our RV! We’ve traveled all around the United States (and Baja Mexico!) and fell in love with boondocking in our RV at the most beautiful places. In 2023, we upgraded to a brand new Brinkley RV Model Z 3100. You’ll always find us on some kind of outdoor adventure, whether it’s hiking the Grand Canyon, rock climbing in Yosemite or surfing the shores of Baja Mexico. Great video guys and we met you at the Tampa RV show. Love watching you guys. I hear what you are saying about the slide hitch weighing a lot as well taking up a lot of room. Lucky I have a forklift to take mine on and off but still a royal pain. We have the super slide rated for 24,000lbs which is a little over kill but at the time we figured we might go higher with our 5th wheel. Decided that what we have is plenty for the two of us. We also have the air ride king pin on the 5th wheel. Certainly looking at that Gen-y hitch as it looks much easier and I get my truck bed back. So I have a 2018 Ram 3500 Laramie but don’t have the goose ball hitch in the center of my truck but do have the 4 pucks. I noticed you have some sort of an adapter on yours that tots into the front pucks. Is that available somewhere and goes that take the place of the center back that we don’t have? Let me know when you get the chance and save travels hope to meet up with you guys again. Mario and Susan.

    We put a Gen y hitch on our new alliance avenue after my son had one on his 5th wheel. What a difference it made compared to our other 5th wheel. Ride is so much better, also handling better. I would recommend this hitch to anyone with a 5th wheel. Plus I have my truck bed back.

    I installed a gen y on my camper. I was very skeptical to do it but I’m glad I did. I had a BD3 trailer saver hitch and absolutely loved the ride quality with that but I think the gen y is almost comparable to that.

    I'm glad you like your Gen-Y! We bought ours because of your earlier review and also used your code to get 15% off. 🙂 We do love the way it tows our Alliance Paradigm using our shortbed Ram 3500. At the Alliance rally, Gen-Y was there and gave us the new flip switch with the pull cord. It was easy to replace, works so much nicer and we don't need that pull rod anymore. BTW, we are still itchy after that mosquito scene -- Yikes! Safe travels!

    After watching your geny video when you first got yours I went and bought one. I've got a one ton dually so getting the gooseneck gave me even more room. So far I've only put on about 450 miles but I could tell a difference. I like it. Enjoy Alaska! I'd love to go there but I don't think that will be in my long term plans.

    Actually, maybe I am different from others. I don't like the Gen-Y. I like goosenecks, but don't like Gen-Y. Tried it, disliked the company, hitch. I guess your experience was better. I am now using the Reese Goosebox. Experience was remarkedly better for me. Thank you for admitting that Gen-Y is a sponsor. However, not sure you should title the video "Honest" when you have a financial bias.

    • @wildrvlife

    During the tight turns, how much clearance is there between the Gen-Y hitch and the tonneau cover rails?

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife День тому

      I'm not sure if you mean between the bottom of the front cap of the rv and rails or the back of the pin box and rails. The front cap clearance has like 8 inches if the ground is flat and less depending on the slope of the ground. The pin box is short enough that it won't ever connect with the truck bed rails or bed cover.

    • @jasonburke7685
      @jasonburke7685 День тому

      @@wildrvlife Back of the pin box to the side of the bed. In this case, the tonneau cover rails since they probably stick in an extra inch of so. I'm guessing there was plenty of clearance since it wasn't mentioned.

    • @wildrvlife

    We have the Gen-Y on our Brinkley with basically the same truck except we don't have the mega-cab. Ours is just the crew-cab. I don't use the offset but the distance between the cab and rig is probably close to what yours is, I may be wrong on that. We have not had a problem with turn radius so far, knock on wood but then again we don't go where you guys go. I would recommend it too. I am curious though as to what you think about adding Sumo springs, especially after making the trip up to Alaska. We're heading there next year. If I remember right in that video you referenced gen-y plus sumo gave the best results. We full-time also so we are pretty heavy as you know. We're currently in Colorado and after doing these mountains I am going to do the brake upgrade in Granby, figured it would be a good time to get it all done. Also, how is the solar keeping up with all the rain? You may be going to do a video on that and if so you can just say "Stay tuned" LOL Sorry for such a long comment
